UNIFIED Music Group, one of Australia’s most globally recognised independent music companies, has expanded its funding capabilities within its Community Music platform.
Community Music is a curated distribution platform purpose-built for independent artists. The platform has already deployed more than A$4.5 million to independent Australian artists as part of a larger A$10 million commitment to grow their careers. Now, artists, labels, and rights holders can log into their Community Music dashboard to see how much funding they have available in real time.
Funding offer amounts — ranging from A$2,500 to A$5M+ — are calculated live each month, using the artist’s streaming data and projected royalty income. Repayment is automatically collected from incoming royalties, meaning no equity changes hands, no rights are transferred, and artists retain 100% ownership and control.
The expansion comes at a critical tipping point for the Australian music ecosystem. Major labels are embracing a global shift away from local investment as offshore consolidation reshapes the distribution landscape. Community Music is providing a vital, homegrown alternative, where artists stay in control of their art, backed by technology but led by a team who knows their name, not just their catalogue number.
Community Music Funding facilitates the cornerstones that build long-term careers: touring, recording, production, marketing, vinyl and merchandise.
Jaddan Comerford, UNIFIED Music Group Founder and CEO, said: “To build a sustainable career today, artists need to be constantly touring, recording, and releasing music. For independent artists, that takes a massive financial toll. Easy access to funding is a sure way to help independent artists, in Australia, and around the world, grow on their own terms when traditional funding routes are drying up.”
Francesca Caldara, UNIFIED Music Group Vice President of Recorded Music, said: “We built this so artists can see exactly what they’re eligible for, calculated against their actual current earnings. Funding shouldn’t feel like a lottery or a trap; it should just be a support tool for your next tour, album, or campaign.”
Community Music enhances independence by bringing together global distribution, DSP strategy, publishing administration, marketing, and integrated funding within a single platform, built for artists who want to grow without giving anything away. Community Music Funding is already up and running. Australian and international independent artists can apply to join the Community Music roster by heading to communitymusic.net/funding
